Dear Colleagues,
With the record breaking hot weather this week, to ensure the air handling performs to its best at keeping the building as comfortable as it possibly can; some top tips from us and from UK Health Security Agency:
- Each evening, ensure your blinds are closed when you leave.
- In the morning, if it is cooler outside, open windows – if it is warmer, close windows.
- Throughout the day, keep the solar rated blinds closed, to reduce the temperature in your room.
- If you see an external terrace door open, please close it to reduce hotter air entering the building as much as possible.
- Once lesson change is complete, close your door to block out the hotter air from the corridors as they are naturally warmer than classrooms and workrooms.
It may seem counter intuitive to close the windows and external doors as the temperature rises outside, but if you don’t, the internal temperature will remain high and the air handling, although robust, will fail to cool the building at all. Cooled, filtered, fresh air from the air handling system is being supplied to all classrooms and workrooms to reduce the internal temperature so that it is lower than the external temperature.
Do continue to report, via site.team, any changes in conditions because this may flag a sudden system fail that we need to act upon immediately.
Thank you
