NEU meeting this Thursday (9th) and Friday (10th) to discuss plans about next week’s strike action on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March.
Again, this will be in room 140, 13:10-13:30. Notes circulated after.
We’ve invited MAN to attend either day, if free.
Note, you don’t have to attend both meets, they are repeat sessions.

For this week’s coaching notes, I have included a slide with the two hymns which we will be singing during the Easter Church service, which is occurring on the 31st of March. Please make sure to practice with the students these two songs during coaching time, which includes lyric videos so that the students can sing along with them.

Y10 STEM careers trip

On Wednesday 8th a small group of Y10s are attending a STEM careers event at Hampton School. This means that they will miss P4 and P5.
They will be told to catch up on any work they miss.

Advance Notice – Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation presentation to Year 10 on Tuesday 7th March (9.30am)

Please be aware that all Year 10 students will be off timetable and in the theatre for part of periods 1 and 2 on Tuesday 7th March.  They will be attending a performance and workshop called ‘I Love You Mum’, which explores the risks of drug use. The performance will begin at 9.30am, so period 1 teachers will be escorting students down to the theatre part way through their lesson.  It will run on into period 2, when period 2 teachers of Year 10 will take over supervision.  I have emailed all teachers involved with details.

Y12 STEM Opportunit

An organisation called The Brilliant Club is offering a fully funded summer school opportunity for Year 12 students.

The summer school, Imperial Life Sciences Scholars, is aimed at students interested in studying Biology or Biochemistry at university. It will take place online from 24th to 28th July. Further eligibility criteria can be found on the application form linked here.

This summer school focuses on academic enrichment and university preparedness, and supports the supra-curricular engagement that highly selective universities such as Imperial College London look for in student applications. Click here to find out more about what participants can expect at the summer school.

It is their aim to support students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in higher education to take part in a summer school. As such, they’d particularly be keen to receive applications from students from these backgrounds.

To apply, students should complete the Imperial Life Sciences summer school application form as soon as possible and before the final deadline at 12pm on Tuesday 2nd May.

My visualiser has gone missing from room 214 – it has my initials on it at the bottom (APL) if you have accidentally taken this please can you return it. In addition a plastic wallet with a number of glue sticks has gone missing, again if you have mistakenly taken these please can you return these.

Open Evening at The Institute of Cancer Research – Staff Needed – MBS

We’ve been offered the opportunity to select 10 year 12 students to go to a careers evening at “The Institute of Cancer Research” ( 237 Fulham Road, SW3 6JB) on Tuesday the 14th March. Students will be able to visit our labs, talk to our researchers, and take part in hands-on science activities.
This is currently a reserve PCE for year 10, if strikes go ahead, so if you do not teach year 10 and would like to take 10 lovely year 12 Biology students on the trip please get in contact with MBS for details!
